Jinzun Asian Buffet, 56 West Street, Fareham

I’ve walked past Jinzun on West Street more times than I can count, always curious about the Asian buffet tucked above street level. When a family birthday rolled around, we finally made the trip—and I’m so glad we did. What started as “let’s just try it” turned into one of those meals where everyone leaves happy, full, and already planning the next visit.
First Impressions
You take the elevator up (always a win, builds the anticipation nicely). The doors open to a spacious, welcoming room with cute booths, warm lighting, and sleek Asian-inspired decor. There’s even a logo light spinning on the floor as you walk in, my daughter was completely mesmerized. The vibe is family-friendly without feeling chaotic: roomy enough that you’re not elbow-to-elbow with the next table, but lively enough to feel like a proper outing.
The Food
Full disclosure: my daughter and I made a straight beeline for the sushi station and barely left it. But what a station. The sushi comes in these elegant little Chinese-style spoon bowls; such thoughtful presentation that even a buffet feels considered and special.
The variety was spot-on: California rolls, glistening salmon nigiri, dragon rolls topped with creamy avocado, precisely cut tuna maki. Everything tasted fresh, well-prepared, and there was plenty of it. We kept going back for more.
What Else Is on Offer
Even though we were sushi-obsessed, the rest of the spread caught my eye:
• Hot food stations — Sweet and sour pork with that perfect sticky glaze, crispy golden salt and pepper squid, sesame chicken scattered with toasted seeds.
• Dim sum — Pan-fried gyoza, fluffy steamed buns, spring rolls.
• Teppanyaki grill — Pick your protein and veg, then watch it sizzle.
• Dessert station — Fresh fruit, Asian pastries, ice cream.
Across the board, the presentation was impressive, not your typical sloppy buffet setup, but fresh and appealing.
What I Loved
• The kids could serve themselves. My daughter adored the independence of choosing her own plates and setting up our little spot.
• Quick table service—plates cleared almost the second we finished. Efficient, but never pushy.
• The value. For a family meal out, this is genuinely affordable (pricing below).
• The aesthetic. Cherry blossom touches, elegant lanterns, subtle Asian statuary—it feels special, not just functional.

Absolutely. It’s perfect for a casual family meal where everyone picks exactly what they fancy—no negotiations required. The sushi alone is worth the drive, and the pricing keeps it feeling like a treat rather than a splurge.
